The restaurant has a little beach area surrounding it and plenty of outdoor tables with beautifully lit tiki’s like something you would expect to see in Hawaii or in a movie. When you arrive you will immediately see why this is such a coveted reservation and why some people make them a year in advance. They will check you in dockside then transport you to Sunset Key (a beautiful private island that has homes owned by superstars like Oprah) just 10 minutes by boat. Our reservation was for 5:15 (which is actually the time you check in for the water taxi not your meal) so we would be there to see the sunset. If you are unable to find a dinner reservation it is still worth going if you can get in for lunch. I explained that it was my wife’s birthday and they managed to make it work and fit us in. I did however find success when I picked up the phone and spoke to the staff there directly. We tried, as usual, to book online with OpenTable but there was nothing available. I will say that getting a reservation can be quite a challenge so the moment you start planning a trip to Key West you should probably book this one. This might be one of the most romantic restaurants we have ever seen. That is the best way to start a write up on Latitudes, amazing atmosphere, amazing service, amazing food. The high humidity of the Keys means that you’ll feel either hotter or cooler than it really is.Amazing. In the winter, temperatures are typically between 65 and 75 degrees, but a cold front can lower those numbers by ten degrees. Though warm, the surrounding waters moderate our temperatures keeping our all-time high temp. In the summer, the climate is warm & muggy with a high of 90 and a nighttime low of 80 (quite balmy). Average Key West Temperature, Rain, and Sea Temperature Also, you won’t need ski boots (no snow), surfboards (no waves), or air purifiers (no pollution). Here is what you can leave behind: Wool, neckties, & uncomfortable shoes. Gear – fishing, golfing, scuba diving, etc.Camera – film, batteries, memory card, recharger, disposable and waterproof cameras (see below).Beach shoes – for you tenderfoots at the rocky Ft.Very handy if you plan on being on a boat or near the water. Dry Bag – Keeps your belongings (phone, camera, keys) safe and dry while near the water and beach.Light windbreaker/pullover – if it’s cool on the water, especially after sunset.And don’t forget a leash (ex: Croakie) for them while you’re on the briny. Sunglasses – We islanders live in our shades.Sunscreen – the sun is intense and you will tan (and burn) no matter the spf.A pair of jean/pants – two if it’s winter.Cotton shirts – light colors and whites work well with Key West’s strong sun.You may want to also bring a comfortable pair of sneakers. Local Key West residents live in open-toed shoes – like flip flops and sandals. Sandals/Flip-Flops. Good footwear is crucial to island life.Shorts – Key West is shorts territory.Tie a ribbon on the handle to easily spot at baggage claim.
